In 2003, Rohams Tavakoli met with a group of Iranian elementary school students who were interested in learning how to make films with their own stories using Boardmaker's software. Today, these students are in college and call themselves "The Boardmakers" as they continue to use Boardmaker as a filmmaking tool. The Boardmakers hail from different parts of Iran but there was one thing that brought them together: they all learned how to make films with Boardmaker's software during their childhood. In 2008, a group of five filmmakers got together at the Cannes Film Festival and formed "Boardmakers Productions" as a way of promoting the "Boardmakers" cause. They decided to celebrate the 10th Anniversary by producing a feature film based on the stories told by middle school children in Iran created with Boardmaker's software.
